Tips for AIPMT Preparation

Tips for AIPMT Preparation

The following is a rundown of some important tips and tricks that could help you boost your preparations for this cut throat competitive medical entrance test.

  1. First and foremost, don’t count the number of remaining days left till the exam. Doing so usually results in unwarranted pressure on the candidate himself/herself.
  2. Establish a fine balance between your preparations for the forthcoming Boards exam and the preparations for the AIPMT. It is advisable that you shift your focus towards the former until the Boards are over. However, that does not mean that you should halt your AIPMT preparations altogether. Keep at least 2-3 hours for that exclusively everyday. Preferably you should spend those 2 or 3 hours practicing 20 objective type questions from at least two subjects on a day to day basis. Also, make it a point to evaluate your performance in these mock tests regularly because that will help you identify both your strength and weaknesses. In fact, it is recommended that you spend 30 mins to one hour extra assessing where your weaknesses lie and how to improve them.
  3. Try and come up with short mnemonics that can be preserved in recent memory before the exams. Always remember that self made mnemonics usually tend to work best – especially when it comes to topics such as animal tissues, families of angiosperm, plant anatomy, modification plant, and plant and animal diversity (taxonomy).
  4. Don’t emphasize on the amount of time you spend on the study table, instead focus as much you can on the quality of the time you spend there. It’s important that you smartly plan your study schedule. Here’s a few tips how you can use Google Calendar to plan your study schedules (Although the article talks about JEE 2014, the tips mentioned therein are equally applicable with AIPMT).
  5. Avoid late night study – try and make sure that you fall asleep by 1 am every night. Wake up at around 8-8:30 in the morning, refresh yourself with a cup of tea or coffee may be, and then start the day’s study schedule.

Tips for getting Good Scores in Gate Exams

GATE – an acronym for the Graduate Admission Test in Engineering, is an all India level entrance examination for aspirants who want to pursue Masters/Direct PhD in India or elsewhere in the world. Every year, lakhs of candidates across the country appear in the exam – thus making it one of the toughest entrance tests in the country. For example, over 12 lakh aspirants appeared in GATE this year, and the number is likely to climb up to more than 15 lakh in GATE 2014

Therefore, it is of the utmost importance that you prepare well in order to secure a seat in top institutes like IIT, IISC, NIT, and so on. The following is a rundown of some of the most important tips that may help you accomplish the said objective relatively easily.

 Tips for getting Good Scores in Gate Exams

  1. First and foremost, always remember that you can not possibly secure 100 marks in GATE! In fact, 90 is often a Herculean task considering that toppers usually answer somewhere around 85-90 marks. We do understand that how much you and other candidates will be attempting eventually depends upon the difficulty of the paper – but the general trend is what we have just projected.
  2. Never ever omit any subject. One thing we have noticed throughout these years is that most students usually tend to omit a subject based on the weightage. The problem with such a strategy is that the subject(s) that you omit could obviously have some really simple questions while the ones you focus on may throw at you a bunch of really complicated questions.
  3. While self-study of course works for the devoted candidates, it is always advisable that you join a coaching institute. Just remember that to secure a top rank in GATE, you must have a strong foundation in almost all the subjects. That, needless to say, can be a daunting task sometimes if you don’t receive sufficient help from a good faculty.
  4. Always remember that Maths will eventually make a massive difference in your scores. Please note that approximately 30 marks, including of course the aptitude, will be really easy to score.
  5. Solve a lot of GATE papers from the yester-years.
  6. PPTs won’t always provide you with sufficient knowledge. Learn the core concepts of all subjects only from the text books prescribed for your undergraduate courses.

Entrance Exam Preparing Students – Do you have a study plan ?

It is preparation time for those who are planning to sit for entrance tests in India. Many of you may be attending coaching classes or have started there exam preparation quite some time back. But tell me frankly – How many of you have a Study Plan ?
If you don’t , here are a few tips as to how one can go about it  as tt is important to have a good study plan. It helps you to keep track of the syllabus you need to cover in a ranged time span.

Create  a Study Plan

A study plan that you develop yourself or center around yourself will go a long way toward helping you reach your goal. Develop a realistic plan that's established according to your needs and schedule, and supports the way you learn. This allows you to stick to your study plan and learn at your own pace, which contributes to the learning process. As the exam nears, you will need to create a plan to help you study effectively and minimize stress. The first step is to figure out how much time and effort you must dedicate to studying for the exam by asking the following questions:
  • How much material do you need to cover?
  • How difficult is the material?
  • How much time is available?
  • Do you have any other priorities during the study period?
  • What is the format of the exam?
  • How important is the exam?
  • What is your performance target for the exam?
To prepare the study plan, map out all of the material that has to be covered and make a schedule showing what, when and how much you will study each day. If you have kept up with the course work, studying will involve revision of the material that you have already covered. If you are behind in the course, you will have to finish the readings and other uncompleted work before starting the revision (if there isn't enough time to go over everything, you must decide what is most important for the exam).
Here are some tips to follow in creating your study plan:
  • budget your time realistically;
  • allocate the study time into several manageable study sessions;
  • divide the course material into small segments and assign them to the study sessions;
  • set clear and specific goals for the study sessions;
  • prioritize to ensure that material weighted more heavily in the exam gets sufficient study time;
  • take into account your familiarity with the material and the difficulty level;
  • don't make the study sessions too long;
  • No noise. A noisy area can increase stress while studying. Avoid studying with the television or radio on. Pick a quiet place like your local library to study.
  • study sessions should have enough variety in terms of topics and activities to prevent boredom and loss of effectiveness;
  • Assess yourself. Take diagnostic or practice tests. Analyze the result. Mark the areas you could consider your weak areas. Concentrate on these areas when you begin studying.
  • avoid cramming before the exam; and
  • don't forget to include regular breaks.

So, understand why the Entrance Test (you are sitting for)  is important to you. When preparing for the Exams, prepare through small, well-planned steps. Accomplish each step; build upon them. Then use these accomplishments as additional benefits and motivators to move you closer to the final achievement
Wish you all the success !
