IIT Gandhi Nagar invites Applications for M.Sc in Cognitive Science 2014

Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar has announced Admissions to M.Sc Cognitive Science for 2014-15 session

M.Sc in Cognitive Science Admission 2014-15

Application is invited for admission to M.Sc in Cognitive Science for the academic year 2014-15
Cognitive science is the interdisciplinary study of cognition, brain and behavior, embracing philosophy, psychology, artificial intelligence, neuroscience, linguistics, and anthropology. In the last four decades, Cognitive Science has established itself as a truly interdisciplinary science, employing qualitatively different research tools such as, the experimental practices of psychology, argument analysis of philosophy, formal methods used to develop computational models, and a variety of paradigms from neuroscience (single-cell studies, lesions, neuro-imaging).
The objective of the Master’s program is to offer students from different backgrounds, breadth of knowledge and research techniques in a wide range of areas in Cognitive Science
This would be facilitated by a richer appreciation of cognitive functions (perception, attention, memory, learning, reasoning, creativity, decision making etc.), research methods and experimental techniques (behavioral, psychophysical, psychophysiological, neuroscientific and computational).

Minimum Eligibility Criteria:

Students who have a Bachelor’s degree (e.g. B.A., B.Sc., B.Tech.) with a minimum of 55% (5.5 CGPA for students with letter grades/CGPA) aggregate marks for General/OBC category candidates and at least 50% (5.0 CGPA for students with letter grades/CGPA) aggregate marks for SC, ST and PD category candidates in the qualifying degree, are eligible to apply for admission to the Master’s program in Cognitive Science
The students who are awaiting final semester/year results and those who would be completing Bachelor’s degree in the academic year 2013-2014 are also eligible to apply.
The short-listing of the applications is based on the overall credentials (Marks in the qualifying exams academic achievements and aptitude for cognitive science
The eligibility criteria mentioned above is minimum and the committee may use higher cut-off levels for shortlisting.

Admission Procedure:

Admission is offered on the basis of entrance test and interview. The Institute will invite a limited number of candidates for a written test and interview based on the academic records and aptitude for cognitive science
The final selection will be based on all of above, viz., academic records, aptitude for cognitive science, written test and interview. The Institute may also exercise the option of offering admission to a few outstanding candidates based on academic records without calling them for written test and/or interview.
Test and interview will be held at IIT Gandhinagar
However, if there is any change in the venue, the shortlisted candidate will be intimated

Financial Support
Eligible candidates admitted to M.Sc Cognitive Science program will receive a monthly scholarship of Rs. 5000/-
The stipend support will be renewed per semester subject to a student’s continued satisfactory progress in the program
Travel Scholarships
Institute encourages M.Sc students to present their research work at national and international conferences, and provides travel scholarships of up to Rs. 60000/- to such students
Hostel Facility
All students admitted to M.Sc Cognitive Science is eligible for hostel accommodation on a sharing basis

AIPMT 2014 and Admission to State Medical Colleges

With more and more state medical colleges and institutions joining the AIPMT, CBSE has left no stones unturned to clarify the modified rules to students. Here’s a closer look at the new rules:

As more and more state medical colleges and institutes join the AIPMT bandwagon, CBSE is leaving virtually no stones unturned to make sure that all rules and regulations with regard to the admission schemes into state medical colleges under AIPMT.
Edu-experts are also of the opinion that it’s indeed an important step considering that a large chunk of the students appearing in AIPMT 2014 will be eventually taking admission into these colleges - either by choice or out of compulsion.
The rules and regulations for admission schemes applicable with state medical colleges/universities/institutes/AFMC etc. are as follows:
Those states/universities/institutes opting to admit medical aspirants to its colleges from the merit list of AIPMT 2014, are allowed to prepare separate rank list based on the All India Rank in AIPMT as well as other relevant criteria applicable.
Candidates seeking admission in colleges other than 15 per cent of the All India Quota are strongly recommended to visit the website of the state/colleges/universities in question.
Admission to the AFMC (Armed Forces Medical College), Pune will be subject to the norms recommended by the Directorate of Armed Force Medical Services, Ministry of Defence, Government of India. Those who want to apply for AIPMT 2014 and also seek admission in AFMC will require applying on the official website of AFMC (www.afmc.dg1d.gov.in). All short listed students must appear for a second stage Screening conducted exclusively by the AFMC. For further information, candidates are advised to contact the AFMC.

AIPMT Eligibility Criteria | Eligibility for Medical Entrance Exam 2014

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) made available the detailed guidelines with regard to the eligibility criteria for the forthcoming edition of the All India Pre Medical Test (AIPMT) scheduled to be held next year in May.
According to the detailed guidelines available for download in the official CBSE/AIPMT website, the eligibility criteria for the 15 per cent All India Quota seats are as following:
The candidate must be 17 years old at the time of admission, or must complete the age on or before Dec 31 of the year the entrance exam is scheduled. He/she must not be above 25 years on Dec 31 of the year of the entrance. However, the upper age limit is further extended by 5 years for SC/ST/OBC students who apply for the 15 per cent All India Quota. The candidate must be an Indian National.
Students from Andhra Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir are not eligible for the 15 per cent All India Quota as both these states have refused to partake in the All India scheme right since the inception of AIPMT.
Meanwhile, the eligibility criteria for students under participating States/Universities/Institutions and AFMC are as follows:
The candidate must be at least 17 years old at the time of the admission, or he/she must complete the said age on or before Dec 31 of the same year the entrance examination takes place. Indian citizens who are currently based overseas are also eligible to apply under the existing federal government guidelines. The Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) may verify all applicable eligibility norms before applying for AIMPMT 2014.
Meanwhile, CBSE has confirmed that the upper age limit for candidates applying for the seats in the control of participating States/Universities/Institutions shall be subject to the rules and regulations of the individual university/state/institution in question.
Candidates from J&K and Andhra Pradesh are eligible to appear in AIPMT 2014 for admission into AFMC, Pune.

Candidates are requested to read the instructions and proceed carefully before they start filling the Application Form.

Candidates can apply for AIPMT - 2014 “Online”.
Candidates must follow the instructions strictly as given in the Information Bulletin and on website. Candidates not complying with the instructions shall be summarily disqualified. 
Uploading of Photograph and Signature:
The Scanned image of the passport size Photograph of the candidate should be in JPG format and Image size should be between 10Kb and 100Kb
The Scanned image of Signature of the candidate should be in JPG format and Image size should be between 3Kb and 20Kb

Please ensure before mailing the print out of the Confirmation Page of online application form that:
The applicant has signed the Form at specified place and affixed left hand thumb impression.
The application bears the signature of Parent/Guardian.
The application has been authenticated/signed by the Head of the Institution/Gazetted Officer.
Good quality colour studio photographs with white background (taken on or after 01.11.2013) have been duly pasted in the space earmarked for it. 
Further, ensure that application form number & candidate name has been written on the back of both the photograph.
The Confirmation Page of online application sent by Courier shall not be accepted.

CBSE Will be conducting All India Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental Entrance Test 2014 (AIPMT 2014) for admission to MBBS/BDS Courses Under 15% All India Quota seats and also for seats under the control of participating States /Universities/Institutions in the academic session 2014-15.
